Photography is a great asset to any classroom. There are so many wonderful opportunities for students to have the ability to use cameras in assignments. There are a lot of digital cameras out there and finding the right one to suit your needs is important. For a classroom you need a user friendly camera that takes good quality pictures, but it doesn't need to break the bank or have all the bells and whistles.
Describe the perfect camera you would purchase for your classroom, explaining why it is the best choice for you and for your students.
The perfect camera for my classroom would have 8 or 9 mega pixels. There are times that I would want to print images to use as displays. I don't want to spend a fortune on it, but I do want it to be a good camera, so I would by a Nikkon or a Canon brand. The camera would be able to take pictures in low light and also have a flash. I would also like a camera with a zoom feature. It doesn't need a lot of extra fancy modes, or complicated buttons, I want a camera that students can just point and shoot and get a good quality picture that is in focus without motion blur.
3. Explain what students are doing with digital cameras. Provide at least 10 ideas you would use in your own curriculum. There are so many great things that you can use a digital camera for in your classroom. You could use it to take pictures of the kids and have them use them on an All about me assignment, they would be great to use for a unit on bugs, they are great to take on field trips, classroom or school newspaper, art projects, weather, class blog, power point lessons, end of the slideshow to give to students, awards and recognition, seating chart.
